Y’all be safe. I expect an outer rain band or two with 40 - 50 mph winds , im around the eastern side of the storm.

Cat 3 at landfall? Yikes...

It’s tremendously big and tremendously wet

I think they upgraded it to Category 4 now, this thing will probably be bad.
![]() 08/26/2020 at 12:01 |

yep, and bringing a lot of storm surge, up to 20 ft where it makes landfall.

Sheeet...
Get out and get safe
, folks.

No bueno.

This is going to be a bad one. We’ve hunkered down in Baton Rouge and are hoping that excessive rainfall doesn’t bring flooding like we had in 2016.

This is mid season. E nd is in November, but not always.

Yeah, seems like it’s going to be a mess. Only good thing is it seems poised to thread the needle between Galveston/ Houston and Baton Rouge/New Orleans. They’ll still get rain, but 100 miles east or west and things would be a lot worse. Small comfort to people in Port Arthur, Beaumont, Lake Charles, etc. though.

Yep, im going no where.
![]() 08/26/2020 at 12:15 |

remember, instead of evacuating you should go to a local parking garage and rescue some stranger’s JDM import toy. you’ll need to jack it up multiple times to get it up onto cinder blocks four tall on each corner.
youll be front page of Jelopicnic for sure!

I seen a red NSX the other day, I wonder where he was heading. I have to save it!

I once worked with a “director” level corporate drone who was named Laura, and she was a nightmare to deal with. Beware of this storm, that name means business.

you’d get so many internet karma points!

Whether he wants to
or needs to be saved or not - do it! By force if necessary.

I’m pretty disappointed the “K” storm wasn’t named Karen. A Karen and a Laura wreaking havoc all over the South would have been a fitting halftime show for 2020.
![]() 08/26/2020 at 13:00 |

Karen is indeed a missed opportunity.
If we make it to “P”, “Patty” seems to have merit.

Or Pam

Pam is definitely going to want to speak to your manager.

Was looking at two specialty vehicles yesterday online from Gulf Coast. Both total write offs from storm damage. Sad

Be safe. I sent my family to Austin yesterday before there was certainty of the direction. (Though I have to admit I’m enjoying the quiet house to work from for a change.)
Not expecting much in central Houston.

Karen was used last year. This year we had Kyle which is also an appropriate name for mischief . B oth were short lived.

Good luck. Stay safe. That storm and
surge looks like it’s not to be fucked with.

Thanks. We’re currently under our second (maybe third) tornado warning of the day.
This is fun!

I feel like we should have stayed in San Antonio this week. But the house wasn’t prepared for a storm, our dogs were at the sitter, and it would have cost us another $1,000 in car rental, hotel, and food.
Enjoy the silence.

Are you high enough to avoid the storm surge?
![]() 08/26/2020 at 17:06 |

Fingers crossed, y’all don’t need this right now.

Im about 40 miles from the coast, live along the upper part of bayou lafourche and so far its the same level it always been. Never heard about flooding from the bayou down here luckily. Even if the bayou rose about 6 feet it still wouldn’ t touch the property line

I’m glad to hear it. If you need a place to run to, I’m not that far north of you!
